Golden Age of Comics Books – April 4, 2006 – #38

In this episode we discuss one of the great MLJ superheroes, The Shield!  The Shield got his start in the pages of Pep Comics #1 (January, 1940), and was one of MLJ’s most enduring characters until they shifted focus to their most popular character, Archie Andrews.  The Shield also appeared in the pages of Shield-Wizard Comics.  He appeared in the Golden Age until Archie completely took over Pep Comics in 1947.  He last appeared in Pep Comics #65.
