In this episode of the Golden Age of Comic Books we discuss all things related to Airboy and The Heap. Both characters were published by Hillman periodicals and appeared in Air Fighters Comics. Airboy first appeared in Air Fighters volume 1, #2 in 1942. The title was renamed Airboy Comics in 1945 with volume 2, #11. He last appeared in volume 10, #4 (May, 1953).
The Heap was a monster-like character that first appeared in Air Fighters Comics #3, but became very popular in his own right, at times taking over the cover of Airboy Comics from Airboy. He ran until the 1950’s when Hillman went out of business.
