Happy New Year 2011 from the Golden Age of Comic Books!

Another year is upon us! Here is a classic New Year cover from DC’s New Adventure Comics #12 (January 1937).  This title started out as New Comics (issues 1-11) and later became DC’s popular Adventure Comics (issues 32-503) featuring many greats including The Sandman, Hourman, Starman, Aquaman and Superboy.  The issue featured here is DC’s first use of “Adventure” in the title.  It’s interesting that over time less emphasis is placed on the word “New” in the title (it was eliminated altogether with the 32nd issue), as DC changed the focus of the magazine to an all adventure format.
