Golden Age of Comic Books – September 19, 2005 – #16

In this episode of the Golden Age of Comic Books we discuss all things related to “The Mirth of a Nation”, Archie Andrews from MLJ Comics!  Archie got his start in the pages of Pep Comics #22 (December 1941).  Archie shared this title with various MLJ superheroes such as The Shield, but soon far surpassed the superheroes in popularity and eventually took over the title.  Archie later got his own title, Archie Comics in 1942.  Archie and his pals Betty, Jughead, Veronica and nemesis Reggie, appeared in many titles in the Golden Age and continue to be popular in the present.
