Golden Age of Comic Books – August 24, 2008 – #58

I’m back with the 58th installment of the Golden Age of Comic Books!  In this episode we discuss the Golden Age Superman-Batman Team-ups, brought to you by DC Comics.  Although Superman and Batman first appeared on the cover of New York World’s Fair Comics (1940), they did not have a full team up and learn each other’s secret identity until 1952 when they appeared in Superman #76.  They went on to have regular team-up stories starting in 1954 in the pages of World’s Finest Comics #71.  There have been several origins of the team-up of Superman and Batman; most notably in Superman #76, World’s Finest #94 (1958) and Adventure Comics #275 (1960).  The team-up of these characters has continued to the Modern Age of Comics, and they remain as popular as ever!
